Mercedes-Benz has launched the EQC electric SUV with a price tag of Rs. 99.30 lakhs (ex-showroom, India) and by doing so has become the first to launch a luxury EV in the country.
The car will only be available in 13 showrooms present at six metros – Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Pune – initially. Other big cities will be covered soon.
Note that the pricing includes AC wall box charger, home electrical charger, five years on-road assistance, five years comprehensive service package, five years/unlimited km extended warranty and eight years/1.6 lakh km battery cover for the first 50 units.
We have already covered in-depth about the styling and riding dynamics of the car which can be read here. So, let us take a look at the features offered with it.
It gets LED headlamps with DRLs, LED tail lights, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, 12.3-inch touchscreen for MBUX infotainment system, Mercedes Me Connect using which the car’s status can be checked and climate control set remotely (among many other things), a sunroof, fit and healthy package and many more.

Powering the EV are two asynchronous motors that have a combined output of 408 HP and 765 Nm. They draw energy from a 80 kWh Lithium-ion battery pack.
While top speed is limited to 180 km/hr, the 2.5-tonne EV can do the 0-100 km/hr sprint in just 5.1 seconds. Overall, Mercedes claims that the EQC has a 450 km range.
According to Mercedes, the EQC can be fully charged in around 10 hours using a 7.5 kW wall box charger that the Mercedes-Benz EQC price will get early customers, while a 50 kW DC fast charger would be able to provide 80 percent range in just 90 minutes.
There are no rivals to the EQC in India at the moment, but expect Audi to bring its e-tron and Jaguar its I-Pace in the near future and give the Merc some tense company.
