The Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 coupe has been launched in India, priced at Rs. 74.80 lakhs.
Mercedes has launched yet another AMG product in India, the AMG GLC 43 4MATIC coupe. The AMG GLC 43 is priced at Rs. 74.80 lakhs (ex-showroom, India). As the name suggests, the AMG GLC 43 is based on the GLC SUV and is the second coupe-styled SUV from Mercedes-AMG. The current GLC range in India consists of the 220d 4MATIC and 300 4MATIC and the GLC 43 AMG is a good addition to the line-up.
Powering the AMG GLC 43 is the same heart as in the AMG GLE 43, a 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged V6 petrol engine. This engine belts out 367 horses, 520 Nm of torque and comes mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission. Being lighter than the AMG GLE 43, 0-100 km/hr comes in at just 4.9 seconds (0.8 seconds quicker than the AMG GLE 43). However, top speed on the AMG GLC 43 has been electronically limited to 250 km/hr.
Styling wise, the front-end has similarities to the GLC SUV. The LED headlamps, LED DRLs and the bonnet are all similar to the GLC. However the AMG GLC 43 has a single slat grille with chrome embellishments and more air intakes in the front bumper that differentiate it from the regular GLC. The side profile till the rear door is again similar to the GLC, the rear meanwhile has an altogether different story to tell. The sloping coupe roof-line and the LED tail-lights at the rear add oodles of attractiveness to the car’s styling.
The interior is laid out again in a similar fashion as the regular GLC, but with subtle changes like an all black interior with red highlights, a flat-bottom steering wheel, aluminium inserts on the steering wheel and dashboard, faux carbon fibre treatment on the centre console and an 8-inch infotainment system with Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. This infotainment system comes with a 13-speaker Burmester audio system.
The Mercedes AMG GLC 43 comes with 5 driving modes that make the drive involving. Eco, Comfort, Sport, Sport+ and Individual are the modes one can choose from. The Individual mode lets the driver adjust the responses from the transmission, suspension, engine and steering suited to his needs.
In-spite of the coupe design, the AMG GLC 43 boasts of boot capacity of 491-litres. Other features common to the AMG brand of cars like the low profile tyres and AMG branded brake calipers also make their way to the AMG GLC 43.
