Mercedes AMG EQS 53 4Matic+ price is costlier than Porsche Taycan Turbo S by Rs. 9 lakhs
Mercedes AMG has, at last, launched the much-awaited EQS 53 4Matic+ electric limousine for a price tag starting from Rs. 2.45 crores (ex-showroom). It’s the first all-electric series production car from the German marque’s performance division, AMG.
It takes the CBU route for India and comes with the first-in-the-industry service interval of 2 years or 30,000 km. The battery warranty is 10 years (8+2 years) or 2.5 lakh km. The service package starts at Rs. 1.15 lakhs for ‘Compact’ and Rs. 2.5 lakhs for ‘Advance Assurance’.
The all-new EQS is now Mercedes’ bespoke electric flagship. The 4×4 luxury limousine gets a couple of powerful motors – 1 mounted on each axle. Tuned by AMG, the motors get large coil windings and actuation through inverters.
In standard setting, the EQS 53 4Matic+ churns out 649 HP and 950 Nm which can be boosted to a humongous 761 HP and 1020 Nm with a dedicated Dynamic Plus package that includes a Race Start mode.
In the Race Start mode, the limousine can crack 100 km/hr in 3.4 seconds, 0.4 seconds quicker than the standard model. While the top-speed is electronically limited to 220 km/hr on the standard model, the Dynamic Plus package further hikes it to 250 km/hr.
The motors are supplied by a large 107.8 kWh battery pack and the claimed WLTP range is between 529 to 586 km. The battery management system is configured specifically for AMG with various driving modes.
For example, in what’s called Sport and Sport+ driving modes, the focus is on performance while, in Comfort mode, the focus is on operating range.
The battery pack can be DC fast charged at 200 kW supply and power for up to 300 km (WLTP) can be topped up in 19 minutes. Thanks to the onboard charger, the electrified AMG can be conveniently charged with up to 22 kW AC supply.
The car’s AMG Ride Control+ air suspension features a 4‑link axle at the front and a multi-link axle at the rear. It’s combined with adaptive, electronically controlled adjustable damping and rear-axle steering as standard.
The Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4Matic+ gets AMG high-performance compound brake system with 6-piston calipers. The optional AMG ceramic high-performance compound brake system uses larger brake discs.
Another great feature with respect to braking is the i-Booster function. This ensures that the braking combines electric recuperation with the hydraulic brake in a highly efficient manner.
The electric flagship is equipped with the innovative MBUX Hyperscreen as standard. This large, curved screen unit extends from pillar to pillar. Three screens sit under a glass cover and appear to merge into 1.
The dedicated MBUX software adapts completely to its user and offers personalised suggestions for numerous infotainment, comfort, and vehicle functions.
With what is known as the zero layer, the most important applications are always displayed situationally and contextually on the top level in the field of vision. The all-new EQS takeS the fight against Porsche Taycan Turbo S and Audi RS E-tron GT.
