The top-spec Mercedes AMG EQE 53 4Matic+ also has 2 electric motors with power ranging from 460 kW (617 BHP) to 505 kW (677 BHP) when the optional AMG Dynamic Plus pack is chosen.

Claimed torque is between 950 and 1000 Nm. This model can hit 240 km/hr tops and smash the 0-100 km/hr sprint in 3.3 seconds. They feature variable all-wheel drive.

Both models use a 90.6 kWh (usable energy content) battery (328 V) and a standard 11 kW on-board charger. The claimed range is between 462 km and 533 km for the EQE 43 which weighs 2525 kg and 444 km and 518 km for the 53 model that has the same weight.

At speeds below 60 km/h, the rear wheels steer in the opposite direction to the front wheels

The energy storage system can charge to up to 170 kW at fast charging stations. At this rate, 180 km of range can be added in 15 minutes. With predictive route planning, range can be managed by customers on a trip.

The AMG Ride Control+ air suspension with adaptive adjustable damping is based on a four-link front axle and multilink rear suspension. The car will lower itself at speed for lower power consumption. What’s more there are drive modes – Slippery, Comfort, Sport, Sport+ and Individual – too.

Both Mercedes-AMG EQE models are equipped with rear axle steering (up to 3.6 degrees) as standard, high-performance brake system (6-piston brake callipers and 415 mm discs up front and single-piston brake callipers for 378 mm discs in the rear). Larger ceramic brakes are optional and can only be used with 21-inch wheels.

Visually, the Mercedes AMG EQE naturally looks like a more sportier version of the regular EQE. It comes with the AMG-specific black panel grille with chrome vertical struts, and a blacked rear spoiler which are the real differentiators.

The car comes with Digital Light headlamps, LED tail lights, and on the inside, there are AMG seats, man-made leather with microfibre and red decorative stitching (nappa leather upholstery optional) and AMG badges and emblems.

Of course, the main highlight of the cabin remains the Hyperscreen (optional) running the MBUX system, while customers will also get an AMG performance steering, aluminium paddles, and lots more, including the AMG Dynamic Plus pack, AMG Sound Experience, AMG Night Package and the like.
