Mercedes-Benz India has launched the 13th and the last product for the year 2016, the Mercedes AMG C43, priced at Rs. 74.35 Lakhs.
Mercedes-AMG division has launched the C43 in India, at a price of Rs. 74.35 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Mercedes-AMG C43 follows the C300 Cabriolet to become the sixth model in the W205 C-Class range in India. Like all the other “43” models (in India, we have the SLC 43 and GLE 43 Coupe), the C43 gets the M276 3.0-litre V6 bi-turbo engine that produces 367 HP and 520 Nm of torque. Gearbox duties are done by a 9G-Tronic transmission with paddle-shifters.
The M276 engine is not hand-built by one engineer like other true-blood AMG mills you find in the likes of the CLA 45, C63 S and the GT S. However, that doesn’t deter its performance capabilities, with the engine propelling the C43 from 0 to 100 km/hr in 4.7 seconds, which is nearly as fast as the Porsche 911 Carrera. Moreover, components for the steering and suspension have been borrowed from C63, the brakes are bigger and better than the standard C-Class and there’s the 4MATIC AWD system that sends 69 percent of the torque to the rear.
With drivers able to choose among five driving modes (Eco, Comfort, Sport, Sport Plus and Individual), there’s plenty of performance demography as well. To the Indian customers, the C43 AMG won’t be easily distinguishable owing to its regular C-Class proportions but the keen eyed will definitely notice the sporty performance parts of the C43 AMG.
The C43 will be brought in via the CBU route and in terms of the price, it goes up against the Audi S5. It is the 13th car and the third AMG product launched by Mercedes this year. The company is expected to end 2016 as India’s highest selling luxury car brand but it may not improve upon its 2015 number (13,502) owing to the temporary ban on diesel cars in Delhi NCR affecting sales earlier this year and now, the demonitization step taken by the government.
