Maserati has commenced bookings for its Trofeo model range in India. Having already had a Trofeo variant in the form of the Levante Trofeo, the Italian carmaker has now produced powerful versions of the Ghibli and the Quattroporte.
All three models are powered by a 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine that puts out 580 HP and 730 Nm, but the Levante gets 10 more horsepower in select markets.
Built at the Ferrari plant at Maranello to Maserati’s specifications, the engine used in the Trofeo models might be among the last to be provided by Ferrari, as it has already been indicated that Maserati will not be given engines beyond 2022.
Interestingly, it is the Levante which beats the other two cars in the 0-100 km/hr sprint as it does it in 4.1 seconds (3.9 in select markets), while the Ghibli Trofeo does it in 4.3 seconds and the Quattroporte Trofeo in 4.5 seconds.
But the latter two are faster, having a much higher top speed (326 km/hr) to the performance SUV’s rather slow (in comparison, of course) 302 km/hr. This makes the sedans the fastest Maserati cars of the body type, ever.
Like the Levante Trofeo, the new Ghibli and Quattroporte Trofeo also get the Integrated Vehicle Control (IVC) system. The sedans have the “Corsa” button and get launch control too.
Trofeo models get revised looks like the front grille with twin vertical bars in Piano Black, carbon fibre front air duct trims and rear extractor, red accents on the side air vents and on the lightning bolt on the Trident badge present on the C-pillars.
The Ghibli Trofeo also gets air ducts on the bonnet. At the rear of the car, the light clusters have been restyled with a boomerang-like profile to emulate the 3200 GT and the Alfieri concept car.
Inside, the interface displays new graphics, a 10.1-inch touchscreen is present on the sedans (Levante gets a 8.4-inch screen), the headrests bear the Trofeo badge and the interior is upholstered in Pieno Fiore natural leather.
Ghibli and Quattroporte Trofeo are fitted with 21-inch wheels, while 22-inch ones are available on Levante Trofeo. Further, the Ghibli and Quattroporte Trofeo will be built at the Grugliasco plant and Levante Trofeo at the Mirafiori (Turin) plant.
