India will initially get a diesel-powered Maserati Levante with a 3.0-litre V6 engine which makes the car do 0-100 km/hr in 6.9 seconds while it is also the most fuel efficient engine in the lineup.
The Indian division of Maserati is all set to launch the Levante SUV in January 2017 in order to support the newly established chain of dealerships. The automaker will launch the SUV in India as soon as the right-hand-drive variant is ready for sale and the luxury SUV was recently revealed at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show.
The Indian Maserati Levante will initially be powered by a 3.0-litre, V6 diesel engine producing 275 HP of power, mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox and the engine is known for its smooth and timely power delivery, the SUV also gets a Start-Stop system that shuts down the engine when idle and turns it on when it is time to move again increasing the vehicle’s fuel efficiency.
Other engine options such as petrol-powered V6s and a twin-turbo V8, that the automaker shares with its sister company Ferrari, will be launched later. The SUV is based on the Ghibli and Quattroporte performance sedans while it also shares a number of mechanical parts.
All the variants of the Maserati Levante are equipped with air suspension, four-wheel drive and torque vectoring system. The interior will be as luxurious as the sedan siblings with leather seats, cruise control, hill descent control, 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system and climate control. The boot capacity is 580-litres with an electronically operated tailgate and the Indian variant is expected to be offered at a starting price of Rs. 1.25 crore (ex-showroom).
