The Manesar plant manufactures a range of Maruti’s best selling models including the Swift, DZire and Celerio and completed the 25 lakh production milestone in 7 years and 8 months.
Beating all records one again, India’s largest auto manufacturer Maruti Suzuki recently announced that the company’s second plant at Manesar, Haryana achieved a milestone of producing 25 lakhs vehicles this month. The momentous milestone was achieved by the automaker in seven years and eight months and is the fastest auto manufacturing plant in the country to do so. The 25,00,000th car that rolled out of the facility was a grey Swift ZXi, India’s favourite hatchback.
Home to producing some of India’s best selling cars, the Manesar plant produces the Swift, DZire and earlier this year commenced production of the Celerio. The facility is spread over 600 acres and houses three units A, B and C that churn out around 8 lakh vehicles per annum. The diesel engine manufacturing plant and a suppliers park is also housed in the same facility. Earlier this year, the automker also installed a 1-Mega Watt solar power plant inside the Manesar facility with an investment of Rs. 10.3 crores.
On the occasion, Maruti Suzuki made sure to commemorate its employees who have played a huge role in achieving the milestone, especially in providing ideas related to productivity, cost, quality and safety. The Manesar facility will further continue to manufacture a range of Maruti products in the future including the updated Swift and DZire models as well as the all new Ciaz sedan scheduled to launch next month.
