Maruti Suzuki Wagon R’s larger 1.2-litre petrol engine is not a part of the recall.
Maruti Suzuki has announced a recall of over 40,000 units of Wagon R to inspect a possible issue of fuel hose fouling with the metal clamp. The affected 1-litre petrol engine Wagon R hatchbacks were manufactured between November 15, 2018, and August 12, 2019. The Wagon R’s larger 1.2-litre petrol engine is not a part of the recall.
From August 24, 2019, Maruti Suzuki dealers will contact owners of possibly affected cars for replacement and inspection of faulty parts. The brand has specified that it will carry out the required replacement free of cost.
Meanwhile, Maruti Wagon R owners can check if their vehicle is affected by visiting the company profile and filling in the chassis number. The required digits are embossed on the vehicle ID plate and are present in the vehicle’s invoice/registration documents.
The Maruti Suzuki Wagon R was the most selling car in July 2019 with a 5% year on year growth. The popular hatchback sold 15,062 units in June 2019 as compared to 14,339 units it raked in at the same time last year. The growth comes in when the automobile sales in India witnessed its sharpest decline in nearly 18 years, dropping 18.71%. It was the 9th month when automobile sales consecutively declined.
