Maruti Wagon R 1.0-litre engine updated to comply with BS6 emission norms.
The BS6 emission norms will come into effect from 1st April, 2020. All manufacturers in India are on their toes to upgrade their lineup with BS6 engines. While some models will make it, some will be discontinued. Maruti Suzuki is currently leading the game with the BS6 shift in the industry.
India’s largest carmaker is rapidly updating their entire fleet with BS6 engines. Almost 70 percent of Maruti’s monthly sales include BS6 models, which is quite impressive. The carmaker has now introduced BS6 compliant Wagon R 1.0, which is priced from Rs. 4.42 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder K10B petrol engine is now BS6 compliant, which is Rs.8000/- more expensive than the BS4 version. It is available in 6 variants and is offered with both 5-speed manual and AMT gearbox options.
The fuel efficiency has dropped from 22.5 km/l to 21.79 km/l. There is no difference in the power output though, it continues to produce 68 BHP. Maruti Suzuki is aiming for 100 percent sales of BS6 compliant cars within 3 months.
