With the new formula of a compact SUV, Maruti Vitara Brezza’s booking figures hit close to 40,000 units within one month of launch.
It is a worth noting fact that Maruti Suzuki had dispatched around 5563 units of the Vitara Brezza after commencing its deliveries from 25th March. The rising demand for the Vitara Brezza has resulted in increased waiting periods to 5 months. The top-end variants are being most liked in the market and grab upto 50% of the total bookings for the Vitara Brezza. This is certainly a hit start for Maruti Suzuki and is believed to take it to the top in the compact SUV segment of automobiles in the Indian market.
The top end variants ZDi and ZDi+ cost around Rs. 10 lakhs upwards (on-road) and are attracting Indian buyers with their distinct looks and styling. Maruti has given dual-tone colour palette with an option for floating roof in the ZDi trims which makes them unique among other variants. The interesting fact is that buyers who have already booked other variants are now shifting to ZDi trims and are ready to pay more for the extra features. While the other models like VDi and LDi have waiting period of around 11-12 weeks and 16-17 weeks respectively, the ZDi variants have top booking figures with the waiting period of around 18-20 weeks.
On the technical front, the Maruti Vitara Brezza is powered by a 1.3-litre diesel engine. It provides a best in class fuel economy of 24.3 km/l and produces maximum power of 89 BHP at 4000 RPM. The four-cylinder DDiS engine delivers a torque of 200 Nm at 1750 RPM. Maruti has priced the Vitara Brezza between Rs. 6.99 to 9.88 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Taking into account the current booking figures and ongoing demand in the market, Maruti has planned to increase the production of the Vitara Brezza from 80,000 units to 1,00,000 units annually. Maruti Suzuki is definitely looking forward to become the top brand in the compact SUV segment in the market with its new Vitara Brezza and there is no doubt the sales figure are in the affirmation. Besides the ramped up production plans, Maruti is also looking forward to double its sales outlet to 4000 by the end of 2020. It also includes increasing its NEXA showrooms from the present 127 outlets to 250 outlets in the current fiscal year.
