After garnering a favourable response for its Vitara Brezza, Maruti Suzuki will be ramping up production of its SUV to 10,000 units per month from July onwards. The move comes after Maruti revealed similar plans for its Baleno, which is also enjoying a good response from consumers.
Starting from the month of July, Maruti Suzuki will be boosting production of its Vitara Brezza, and will shift 10,000 units of the SUV every month. The Brezza has been a sale success for Maruti and the company now looks to meet the overwhelming response it received for the car. The SUV was released in March this year, and has already racked up close to 52,000 pending orders.
This is the second time that Maruti has had to revise its sales strategy for the Vitara Brezza. Earlier, the company had raised sales expectation to 1,00,000 units per year (from 80,000 cars per year) when the SUV got a good response at the Auto Expo.
Maruti had also taken similar steps for its Baleno, to meet the market demand and curb its high waiting period. The company however, is currently running at 100% capacity. Thus, to get any substantial increases in production is difficult. The upcoming Gujarat plant will also aid the company to meet its high product demands. For now though, the production will be leeched off the other products in Maruti’s line up.
The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza was launched in March 2016, and is powered by a 1.3-litre diesel that outputs 89 HP of power and 200 Nm of torque. With prices starting at Rs. 6.99 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi), it competes against the likes of the Mahindra TUV300 and Ford EcoSport.
