The Maruti Vitara Brezza which is an extremely popular compact SUV has scored an impressive rating of 4 stars in Global NCAP crash tests.
There was a time when Indian cars were scoring very poorly in crash tests but times are changing because newer cars like the Tata Nexon and Maruti Vitara Brezza have been performing really well in crash tests. Following the Nexon which got a 4-star rating very recently, the Vitara Brezza too has scored 4-stars in the Global NCAP crash tests.
The Maruti Vitara Brezza scored 4-stars for adult occupant protection and 2-stars for child occupant protection. The tested car was equipped with dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and ISOFIX child seat mounts.
It was stated that good protection was offered to the driver’s head and neck and the car’s bodyshell was also rated as stable and it had the capability of withstanding even more load.
The 3 year old dummy child received good protection but the 18 month old dummy was placed in the child seat in a forward position and due to this the child occupant protection came up to 2 stars only and even the markings for the ISOFIX mounts in the Vitara Brezza didn’t meet the standards set by Global NCAP testing protocols.
