Maruti Vitara Brezza First Car In India To Meet BNVSAP Norms

The Maruti Vitara Brezza is the first car that complies with the BNVSAP crash tests for side impact and offset crashes. The new norms will be put into force from 2017.

The Vitara Brezza comes with a driver side airbag on all variants

The Maruti Vitara Brezza is easily one of the most anticipated cars to be launched this year. One of the early customers of the compact SUV seems to have already crashed the car and while the accident seems to have occurred due to the driver getting distracted by something, what we can see is that the car has withstood the crash really well.

As evident in the images, while certain body panels have taken quite a beating, the overall cabin has remained pretty much intact. It is also said that the passengers escaped without any major injuries. The Vitara Brezza complies with side impact and offset crash tests set by the Bharat New Vehicle Safety Assessment Programme (BNVSAP).

The compact SUV is also the first vehicle to comply with the BNVSAP tests which will kick in from October 2017 for new cars and 2020 for existing cars. The Maruti Vitara Brezza comes with a standard driver-side airbag on all trims. A passenger airbag and ABS are optional on the LDi and VDi trims while the ZDi trim gets these as standard features.

The Maruti Vitara Brezza is powered by a 1.3-litre Multijet diesel engine that powers a variety of other vehicles in India. The compact SUV has been receiving excellent demand from customers and the initial response is very positive. The Vitara Brezza competes with the Ford EcoSport and Mahindra TUV300.
