Maruti Swift RS Spied With BoosterJet Engine

2018 Maruti Swift RS spotted testing with Baleno RS 1.0-litre BoosterJet engine, expected to produce 105 PS.

The Swift with a 1.0-litre BoosterJet engine is likely to be named as Swift RS

The Maruti Swift is one of the favourite cars for young Indian buyers. Ever since it launched back in 2005, it is one of the best selling cars from Maruti Suzuki. The current Swift is leading the top-selling cars list by a huge margin and it is also the fastest Indian car to achieve the one lakh sales target.

The Swift is available with both 1.2-litre petrol and 1.3-litre diesel engine and the company is likely to get a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine. This engine will be the same engine from the Maruti Baleno RS. The Swift with a 1.0-litre BoosterJet engine is likely to be named as Swift RS. While Maruti offers AMT on both the engines, this one will be a 5-speed manual gearbox only.

The Swift will be powered by a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder, DOHC, turbocharged petrol engine and it is likely to be tuned like the Baleno RS. However, this engine is expected to produce 104 BHP, unlike the Baleno RS which produces 101 BHP.

The Swift RS is expected to get a sportier look, 16-inch alloy wheels with disc brakes on all four wheels. The bumper will get skirts along with rear roof spoiler to give it a sporty stance. Like the Swift Sport, this car will get red detailing on the front grille.

Maruti has already started testing the BoosterJet engine on the Swift. We can expect it to be launched in the market very soon. The Swift RS will stand against the Volkswagen Polo GT TSI and the Tata Tiago JTP. We are expecting Maruti to price this car around Rs. 8 lakhs, which makes it cheaper than the Baleno RS and slightly expensive than the Tiago JTP.
