The Maruti Swift Hybrid is powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine mated to a 5-speed AGS
Maruti Suzuki has introduced the extremely popular hatchback Swift with a 48V mild-hybrid engine in India. The new system of this car is basically an upgraded version of the 12V mild-hybrid system that is currently offered in the Ciaz and Ertiga.
The Maruti Swift Hybrid is powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine mated to a 5-speed AGS. The Swift continues to measure 3840 mm in length, but the width now stands at 1695 mm instead of 1735mm, while the height has reduced by 30 mm. The wheelbase is identical at 2450 mm. The kerb weight is 960 kgs. The petrol engine produces 91 PS of power @ 6000 RPM and a peak torque of 118 Nm @ 4400. The electric motor, on the other hand, offers 13.5 PS of power @ 3185-8000 RPM and a peak torque of 30 Nm @ 1000-3185 RPM.
Also, hybrids use a self-charging mechanism with the help of regenerative braking. In the Japanese markets, the Maruti Swift Hybrid offers a mileage of up to 32 kmpl, though the company is yet to offer a statement about the same, expect a similar figure in India as well. This will actually fill up the empty space that Maruti is creating by discontinuing diesel engines.
