Maruti Swift DZire Crosses 10 Lakh Sales Mark In India

The Maruti Swift DZire is one of the top 3 best selling vehicles in the country and is the most selling compact sedan in its segment.

The DZire is also exported to several markets, exports till June ’15 accounted to 50,000 units

The Swift platform has been extremely successful for Maruti Suzuki globally and the sedan based on the same has been equally appreciated in India. Following up with the automaker’s other successful offerings, the Swift DZire is the newest Maruti product to cross the ten lakh sales mark in the domestic market. Launched in March 2008, the DZire managed to achieve the millionth sale this month and has joined the automaker’s elite million club comprising of the Alto (2.83 million), Omni (1.68 million); Wagon R (1.63 million) and Swift (1.36 million).

The first generation Maruti Swift DZire was a full sized sedan, but was truncated to fit within the 4-metre mark, when the full model change arrived in February 2012. Ever since, sales have only been uphill for the country’s most popular compact sedan that also happens to be one of the top three best selling vehicles in the country, behind the Alto small car and Swift hatchback. Earlier this year, the DZire was given a minor update with a new chrome grille, revised front and rear bumper, as well as a host of new features inside the cabin, boosting its appeal amidst new competition.

With the latest update, Maruti also reworked on the DZire’s 1.2-litre petrol and 1.3-litre diesel engines, improving its fuel efficiency by a considerable margin. The DZire petrol now returns an ARAI certified figure of 20.85 km/l, while the diesel returns a segment leading 26.59 km/l. The DZire is also exported to Africa, South America, Central America, Middle East ASEAN and SAARC countries. As part of the celebrations for the sales achievement, Maruti has lined up a ‘Sweets on us’ campaign and will be sending edible emailers to its customers apart from creating edible installations inside malls by artists. Surely, the auto giant has found an interesting way to be generous.

The DZire manages to sell three times more than its closest rival in the compact sedan space
