As the car market is seeing a slowdown, automakers are trying to push products by offering limited edition models. Some dealers also take advantage of such marketing gimmicks by offering special editions. Maruti Suzuki dealers in Rajasthan have come up with the Swift XDi edition, which is based on the LXi/LDi variant of the hatchback. This special edition of the Swift gets nothing more than accessories. The petrol Swift XDi is priced at Rs. 5.44 lakhs while the diesel Swift XDi is priced at Rs. 6.77 lakhs (all prices on-road, Jaipur).
Maruti Suzuki’s Rajasthan dealers feel the addition of certain accessories add to the excitement of owning a Swift. We might not agree but buyers will willingly opt for this variant as it offers quite a few add-ons. On the exterior front, the Swift XDi gets front foglights, integrated turn indicators in rear view mirrors, body side mouldings and full wheel covers. These features are standard on higher Swift variants.
On the inside, the Swift XDi gets a 2-DIN audio system with two speakers, central locking, keyless entry, front power windows, door sill guard with illumination, reverse parking assist, rear parcel shelf and artificial leather seat covers.
The Swift LXi/LDi is the base variant of the Maruti Swift which is sure to face tough competition from the recently launched Hyundai Grand i10. Last month Maruti Suzuki sold 14,152 units of the Swift in the Indian market, which makes it the second highest selling car in our country in August.
