Maruti Suzuki Vitara 3-row Version Spotted At The Company’s Plant In Kharkhoda, Haryana
Maruti was recently spotted testing the 7-seater version of the Grand Vitara SUV. The spy shots were taken outside Maruti Suzuki’s facility. It can be understood that the Grand Vitara’s 7-seater Version, codenamed Y17, is close to production. Let’s take a look at what the spy shots entail.
Styling
The Grand Vitara 7-seater was heavily camouflaged. However, the increase in length is noticeable. The additional length will make the Vitara a more practical vehicle. The front also gets a new DRL design. Additionally, the taillights also get a connected lightbar.
The alloy wheels also have a refreshed design from the shots. It can be observed that most of the design cues are borrowed from the e Vitara. The rear overhang is large, and a big quarter-screen area is above the overhang, typical of 7-seater SUVs.
Potential Powertrain Combinations
The three-row Vitara will have the same powertrain options as the outgoing model. It is expected to be powered by a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 1.5-litre petrol hybrid engine with the same transmission options. The added weight can result in a dip in performance.
Market Positioning & Outlook
The Maruti Suzuki Vitara 7-seater is expected to launch sometime later in 2025 as the first model waits to break the cover at the company’s Kharkhoda Plant in Haryana. The Vitara 3-row version will compete against Hyundai Alcazar, XUV700 and MG Hector Plus. This version of the Vitara will slot below the Invicto in the brand’s appealing model portfolio.
