The Maruti Suzuki Swift is one of the best selling hatchbacks in India. The Swift was launched in the Indian market in 2005 and since then it is leading the premium hatchback segment with a good presence in the market as well as a great fan following. The Swift is known for its stylish looks and great driving dynamics with Maruti Suzuki’s reliability. In 2011, Maruti Suzuki introduced an all new avatar of the Swift, which further heated up the excitement in the market. A few days ago we heard that the company is planning a facelift for the Swift hatchback in 2013.
Recently, Maruti Suzuki came up with a short commercial ‘we the Swift’, which gave us a glimpse of the limited edition Swift. The video features different colors of Swifts in action and also showcases a Swift with a new black paint job with white stripes. This means that Maruti Suzuki is likely to launch a limited edition Swift offering sporty paint jobs with few additional features. We had seen the limited edition ‘Glam’ variants on the previous generation Swift. Apart from the limited edition, we can also expect the company to roll out a facelift later this year.
The Maruti Suzuki Swift offers two engine options, a 1.3-litre turbo diesel engine producing 75 PS of power at 4000 RPM and 190 Nm of torque at 2000 RPM and a 1.2-litre K-Series engine producing 87 PS of power at 6000 RPM and 114 Nm of torque at 4000 RPM, both mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Both the engines are known for their strong performance and high fuel efficiency. The petrol engine provides a fuel efficiency figure of 18.6 km/l and the diesel engine provides a figure of 22.9 km/l. Maruti Suzuki offers the Swift with six colors and it comes at a starting price of Rs. 4.60 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi).
