Finally, the cat is out of the bag. Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch the Ertiga MPV sometime in March. Showcased at the recently held Auto Expo 2012, the Ertiga will be another attempt by the largest automobile manufacturer in India at the bigger car segment in the Indian market. Maruti Suzuki had burnt its hands with the Grand Vitara SUV which had received a lukewarm response in the Indian market. The company later launched the Kizashi, which too got lackluster response. Will the Ertiga create volumes for Maruti Suzuki in an entirely new segment for the car maker?
The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga will be positioned in the compact MPV segment which has predominantly been occupied by the Mahindra Xylo, Toyota Innova and offlate the Tata Aria. It will be a testing game for Maruti Suzuki who is a badshah in the small car segment. The Ertiga is will be launched in both petrol and diesel variants and is expected to be priced between Rs 6 lakh to Rs 7 lakh respectively. Maruti Suzuki has been a roll from the start of this year with the company launching one model every month. In January 2012, Maruti launched the new A-Star, followed by the compact sedan DZire and now the Ertiga. Surely, the sales chart for January 2012 has looked good for Maruti and it seems they plan to continue the domination to other segments as well.
