Maruti Suzuki announces price hikes across models, ranging from Rs. 1500 to Rs. 32,500

Starting 1st February, 2025, Maruti Suzuki, India’s largest carmaker, will implement a price hike across its portfolio. The increment, varying by model, will range from Rs. 1500 to Rs. 32,500. This decision comes in response to escalating input and operational costs, the company said.

Breakdown of the Price Hike

Among the models, the Celerio faces the steepest price increase at Rs. 32,500. Other models are set to witness more moderate adjustments. Here’s a closer look at the changes:

  • Minor Hikes: The Ciaz and Jimny will see a minimal rise of Rs. 1500.
  • Entry-Level Adjustments: Popular small cars like the Swift and S-Presso will cost up to Rs. 5000 more, while the Fronx will see an increase of Rs. 5500. The Ignis will be dearer by Rs. 6000.
  • Mid-Segment Models: The Baleno’s price will increase by Rs. 9000, while the Dzire and XL6 will each see a hike of Rs. 10,000.
  • Family Favorites: The WagonR and Ertiga, two of Maruti Suzuki’s bestsellers, will be priced Rs. 15,000 higher.
  • Premium Hikes: The Alto K10 will witness a jump of Rs. 19,500. Prices for the Brezza, Grand Vitara, and Invicto will increase by Rs. 20,000, Rs. 25,000 and Rs. 30,000, respectively.

Additionally, utility models like the Eeco and Super Carry will also see adjustments, with prices rising by Rs. 12,000 and Rs. 10,000, respectively.

Reason Behind the Decision

Maruti Suzuki has cited rising costs of raw materials and operations as the primary drivers of this price hike. The move is aimed at partially offsetting these financial pressures while ensuring the company maintains its focus on delivering quality and innovation.

Impact on Consumers

For prospective buyers, this price revision might mean revisiting budgets or considering alternative models. However, Maruti Suzuki’s continued emphasis on offering value through a robust after-sales network and fuel-efficient technology may still make its cars an attractive choice despite the increase.

Industry Context

Price hikes have become a trend in the automotive industry, with manufacturers facing cost pressures from global supply chain disruptions, inflation and stricter regulatory requirements. Analysts suggest that while such increases are not ideal for customers, they reflect the industry’s efforts to remain financially sustainable.

With this latest revision, Maruti Suzuki reaffirms its commitment to navigating market challenges while catering to diverse customer needs. Buyers planning to purchase a Maruti Suzuki model might want to act before 1st February to avoid the impact of the new pricing.
