Maruti Suzuki Swift Hybrid Spied Testing

Swift Hybrid Coming Soon Or Just A Test Bed For ADAS Finetune

In May 2024, Maruti Suzuki launched the new Swift in India with a starting price of Rs. 6.5 lakhs (ex-showroom). It is powered by a 1.2-litre Z-series 3-cylinder engine, producing 80 BHP and 112 Nm of torque. Later, in September, they also introduced the CNG variant of the new Swift, priced from Rs. 8.19 lakhs (ex-showroom).

Internationally, the Swift is also available with a hybrid powertrain, which produces slightly more power at 82 BHP with the same 1.2-litre engine paired with the hybrid system, while maintaining the same torque output of 112 Nm. Both models come with a 5-speed manual transmission; however, the international variant features a 5-speed CVT instead of the 5-speed AMT offered in India.

The spy images reveal the new Swift without camouflage, featuring a Hybrid badge and a Test Vehicle sticker on the doors. We can expect a mild-hybrid engine to power this Swift, although it appears to be undergoing testing for ADAS fine-tuning. If the Swift is introduced with hybrid technology, it would likely boost its sales, albeit with a slight increase in price.
