Maruti Suzuki India Plans To Improve The EV Charging Infrastructure
Maruti Suzuki India plans to improve the EV infrastructure before the launch of its Electric SUV, Vitara EV. This will help the consumer to integrate an electric offering better into their lives. Maruti Suzuki also plans to boost after-sales service to make it convenient for first-time EV Buyers.
The Plan
The manufacturer plans to improve the infrastructure by having a fast charger at a frequency of every 10 Km in the top 100 Indian Cities in terms of population. These 100 cities account for 97% of the EV Sales in India, hence the drastic decision. In addition to this, Maruti Suzuki also plans to have EV-specific after-sales service in 1000 cities. These goals shouldn’t be that hard to achieve as the Japanese brand is well known for its service network for ICE Cars, and most of the process should be enabling mechanics with EV components.
Additional Measures
Maruti Suzuki also plans to deliver a service-on-wheels to handle breakdowns and technical issues where service stations aren’t in the vicinity. Currently, there are 300 mobile units which can be used for this type of service. This should increase the viability and feasibility of the EV offerings and make them a part of daily lives.
Outlook
According to the Federation Of Automotive Dealers Association (FADA), the Year-On-Year growth has been 20%. The total number of EVs sold in India in 2024 is 99,165 cars. This makes the Japanese brand poised to take on the growing market. The commitment towards the EV Charging Network and Service Network will help the brand boost EV Sales in the right frame of time.
