Maruti Suzuki recently regained back its 50% market share in the Indian car market and is facing slight capacity crunch even though it has two plants in the country. The company is contemplating setting up a third manufacturing plant at Rohtak (where it also has an R&D center), with an annual capacity of 6 lakh units. The Rohtak plant would require an investment of Rs. 1000 crore and will be spread over 600 acres. The company has a capacity to produce 12 lakh units from its Gurgaon and Manesar manufacturing plant and the new facility will help them boost it to 20 lakh cars per year.
