Maruti Suzuki has launched the Alto 800 Anniversary Edition to commemorate the first anniversary of the car. This launch happens close on the heels of the Alto K10 MusiK edition’s arrival. Just like the MusiK edition, this Anniversary Edition is also a cosmetic enhancement with some added features. Maruti Suzuki is trying its level best to secure first place in sales by offering limited editions this festive period. This Alto 800 Anniversary Edition has been priced at Rs. 3.12 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) which is just a marginal increase over the standard variant.
The Anniversary Edition Alto 800 features rear parcel tray, new seat upholstery, body side mouldings, body coloured rear view mirrors and blackened B-Pillar. It also gets new body graphics and the Alto 800 comes in a new purple haze colour. The vehicle also comes with an optional audio system. As far as Maruti Suzuki is concerned, these small segment vehicles are very important for them and the Alto 800 and Alto K10 have been a volume spinner for the company right from launch. In fact the Alto has been the table topper consecutively for the last many years.
Under the hood of this limited edition Alto 800 are the same specifications as the standard Alto 800. It is powered by 800cc petrol engine that delivers maximum power of 47.5 BHP at 6000 RPM with maximum torque of 69 Nm at 3500 RPM. It is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The Alto 800 comes with a 35-litre fuel tank and an ARAI certified mileage of 22.7 km/l. With recent reports suggesting an in-house diesel engine under development from Maruti Suzuki, we hope to see the next generation Alto with the 800cc, 2-pot oil burner.
