The Maruti Futuro-e will have a coupe-like sloping roofline.
Maruti Suzuki has revealed the first sketch of its new concept vehicle, the Futuro-e, just two weeks ahead of its global premiere at the 2020 Auto Expo. The sketch manages to hide almost everything about the car and just gives a faint idea of the coupe-styled SUV’s silhouette.
With the Futuro-e, Maruti Suzuki is trying to tap the booming SUV segment. As per the current trend, people are upgrading from hatchbacks and sedans. This coupe-styled SUV is the company’s vision for future e-mobility apart from being something Maruti has never created before.
The Maruti Futuro-e will have a coupe-like sloping roofline, it will still have the SUV appeal with a high bonnet, a bold, wide face and will usher in a new design language for the brand.
Since Maruti Suzuki is halting the production of diesel cars from April 2020, the Futuro-e production model will bear a petrol engine which will be designed to accommodate an electric powertrain later. One can only hope that the brand brings back its 1.5-litre diesel to go with the BS6 era.
