Maruti Suzuki Eeco commands 90 percent market share in its segment
Maruti Suzuki today marked the 15th anniversary of its Eeco van, a vehicle that has established itself as a staple in both personal and commercial transport across the country. Launched in 2010, the Eeco has sold over 1.2 million units, commanding a reported 90% market share in its segment.
The Eeco’s versatility has made it a popular choice for families and businesses alike. Available in 13 variants, including configurations for passenger transport, cargo and ambulance services, the van has been adapted to meet diverse customer needs. Its appeal spans urban and rural markets, with rural areas accounting for 63% of total sales, according to Maruti Suzuki.
Utility and Performance
Under the hood, the Eeco features a 1.2L Advanced K-Series Dual Jet, Dual VVT engine, which contributes to 57% of its sales. The van also offers an S-CNG variant that has proven popular, representing 43% of overall sales. This aligns with growing consumer interest in environmentally friendly fuel options.

Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing and Sales at MSIL, acknowledged the role of the Eeco in supporting livelihoods and serving as a practical solution for transport needs. “From providing mobility to individuals and families to supporting entrepreneurs and businesses, the Eeco has earned its place as a trusted companion,” he said.
Safety and Features
The Eeco includes safety features such as a driver airbag, anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), reverse parking sensors, seat belt reminders and a high-speed alert system. These features cater to both regulatory compliance and consumer demand for safer vehicles.

While the Eeco’s dominance in its segment is notable, the market for multi-purpose vehicles has evolved, with increasing competition from newer models and alternative fuel options.
