Maruti Suzuki India Limited has achieved a significant milestone by surpassing the cumulative production mark of over 3 crore units. This achievement encompasses production activities across the company’s manufacturing facilities located in Gurugram, Manesar (Haryana) and Hansalpur (Gujarat).

Notably, Maruti Suzuki’s Indian operations have attained this milestone in a record time span of 40 years and 4 months, since the commencement of production in December 1983, making it the fastest among all Suzuki production bases.

The cumulative production figure comprises over 2.68 crore vehicles manufactured at the Haryana-based facilities and over 32 lakh vehicles produced at Suzuki Motor Gujarat, a wholly owned subsidiary of Maruti Suzuki India Limited.

Several models have contributed significantly to this milestone, including the iconic Maruti 800, which played a pivotal role in revolutionising mobility in the country with over 29 lakh units. Other successful models such as Alto 800, Alto K10, Swift, Wagon R, Dzire, Omni, Baleno, Eeco, Brezza and Ertiga have also made notable contributions.

Maintaining its leadership position in the domestic market since its inception, Maruti Suzuki attributes its success to a strong foundation built on relevant products and technologies, an extensive sales and service network and a robust supplier ecosystem. The company commenced exports in 1987 and currently accounts for nearly 40 percent of the total vehicle exports from India.

Dedicating this achievement to the unwavering support of its customers, Mr. Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director & CEO of Maruti Suzuki India Limited, expressed gratitude towards customers who have shown continuous faith in the company’s products over the years. He also acknowledged the contribution of the agile workforce and value chain partners in maximising production to meet customer needs.

Looking ahead, Mr. Takeuchi outlined the company’s commitment to ‘Make in India’ and its plans for further investment to increase annual production capacity to 4 million units by FY 2030-31. This includes setting up two new greenfield manufacturing plants with a capacity of 10 lakh units each in Kharkhoda-Haryana and Gujarat. Additionally, Maruti Suzuki aims to expand its range of models from the current 18 to 28 by FY 2030-31.
