The Maruti Suzuki Celerio diesel has been spied at the company’s Manesar plant again and will be launching in the country this month. AMT seems to be given a miss initially.
Launched in 2014, the Maruti Celerio received the typical positive response in terms of sales that majority of the cars from the same stable receive. But the vehicle does not have a diesel variant on offer at the moment and is due to get one soon. The Maruti Suzuki Celerio diesel has been spied time and again and is due for a launch this month. This time also, the diesel avatar of the Celerio has been spotted in Maruti’s Manesar plant stockyard.
As per latest spy shots, hundreds of cars are seen parked in the plant’s stockyard and are ready to be dispatched to dealers. The ZDi variant is clearly seen in the pictures. The diesel Celerio will feature no exterior updates, but the major change is the all-new 800cc, twin-cylinder engine featuring common rail diesel technology. It has been completely developed in-house by Maruti Suzuki and is expected to belt out around 45 BHP of power and 135 Nm of torque.
Paired to a 5-speed manual transmission, the diesel Celerio is expected to deliver a mileage of around 30.1 km/l. If this will be the case, then the vehicle will become the most fuel efficient car in India beating the Swift DZire facelift, which is also from the same manufacturer. AMT version of the diesel Celerio does not seem to launch anytime soon, but will definitely be offered sometime in the future as it accounts for almost half of Celerio sales for the petrol variant.
Once launched, the Maruti Suzuki Celerio diesel will definitely help the hatchback rise further in the sales chart and become yet another volume puller for the car manufacturer. It will go head-on with rivals like the Chevrolet Beat diesel and also the upcoming Tata Kite hatchback.
