2022 Maruti Celerio CNG Price

Except for the new Maruti Swift, all other AMT cars have got the price reduction

Maruti Suzuki has announced a price cut of Rs. 5000/- for its AGS range of models, commonly known as Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) cars. This reduction applies to various models sold through both Nexa and Arena dealerships, including Baleno, Fronx, Wagon R, Dzire, Alto K10 and others. However, the newly launched Swift AMT is excluded from this price adjustment.

This price cut is part of Maruti Suzuki’s strategy to boost the adoption of automatic cars, particularly among entry-level buyers. Partho Banerjee, Sales and Marketing Head at Maruti Suzuki, stated, “We want more and more customers at the entry-level also to upgrade to the automatic variants.” Currently, only 10 percent of Arena customers choose automatic cars, compared to double that percentage among Nexa buyers.

The price reduction covers a range of cars equipped with the AGS technology. The models benefiting from the price cut include, Alto K10, S-Presso, Celerio, Wagon R, Dzire, Ignis, Baleno and Fronx.

Notably, models such as the Brezza, Ertiga, Ciaz, XL6, Invicto, Grand Vitara and Jimny, which feature a torque converter automatic transmission, are not included in this price reduction. As of 1st June, 2024, the starting price for Maruti’s AMT range has been adjusted from Rs. 5.56 lakhs for the Alto K10 VXI AMT to Rs. 5.51 lakhs (ex-showroom).

In addition to the price cut, Maruti Suzuki is also set to introduce a new Dream Edition variant for three models – Alto K10, S-Presso and Celerio. These limited-run models, available only in June, will be priced from Rs. 4.99 lakhs (ex-showroom). This pricing strategy notably reduces the entry-level price of the Celerio by Rs. 38,000/- from its current entry-level LXI price of Rs. 5.37 lakhs (ex-showroom).

Maruti Suzuki is optimistic about the impact of this price reduction on sales. The company sold approximately 1.32 lakh AGS models last year and anticipates a growth of 15-20 percent in the financial year following this price adjustment.
