Maruti Suzuki Alto Replacement Spied

Our good friends at OnCars have caught a massive scoop, of the next generation Maruti Suzuki Alto replacement, which is set to hit Indian roads this October. The pictures reveal interesting details about the new Alto or 800. The car has got an all new design language and the front looks very similar to the Ford Figo. The side profile is very reminiscent of Maruti Suzuki cars and the A-Star to a certain extent. The rear though looks like the Alto again but with the tail lights lifted straight from the Hyundai i20. Overall the design is nothing to write home about but the dimensions are much bigger than the current Alto.

The car which is pictured here is the LXi variant (the badge present on the boot) and has the usual one side ORVM found on LXi variants. The section below the front grille seems to come straight from the Renault Pulse and the car features Figo inspired wheel caps as well. There is body side molding present too and a slight glimpse of the interiors reveal vast improvements. The speedometer area looks somewhat similar to the old Zen and there are silver inserts on the dashboard. The increased height should yield better headroom to passengers, something which the current Alto lacks.

The new Maruti Suzuki Alto is based on the similar platform as the current model, with slight design improvement. It will be powered by the same 800cc engine which does duty on the current Alto. This engine produces 47 BHP of power output and 62 Nm of torque output. The Alto K10 will continue to sell untouched and there or no changes expected to it in the near future. Expect Maruti Suzuki to leverage on the price and fuel efficiency of this car to sell it in huge numbers. Just recently sales of the Alto have been dropping and Maruti Suzuki has started offering a discount to the tune of Rs. 30,000/- on its bestseller.
