Maruti Suzuki has launched the third generation Alto K10 for a price tag starting from Rs. 3.99 lakhs (ex-showroom) for the base STD trim. Price goes all the way up to Rs. 5.83 lakhs (ex-showroom) for the top-end VXI+ AGS trim.

Bookings are currently open for a token amount of Rs. 11,000/- and can be done at any Maruti Suzuki Arena dealership or by logging on to https://www.marutisuzuki.com/alto. There are 6 trims on offer – STD, LXI, VXI, VXI+, VXI AGS, VXI+ AGS.

With over 4.32 million customers in the last 22 years, the Alto is among the most influential car brands in the country. The third generation Alto K10 is built on the fifth generation Heartect platform and Maruti Suzuki claims it has very low NVH levels.

Power comes from the latest K10C 998 cc engine that churns out 65.7 HP. The claimed fuel efficiency is a high 24.9 km/l. The length, width, and height are 3530 mm, 1490 mm, and 1520 mm respectively.

The design of the hatchback is fresh and sedate making it a typical no-nonsense car. It’s taller and roomier than the discontinued second generation model. However, the fog lamps have been given the miss this time and there are not even provisions for the same.

Fortunately, even the base variants get body-coloured bumpers. There are flap type door handles and Black ORVMs. There’s also a roof-mounted spoiler at the rear. Basic Silver wheel covers on Black steel wheels are part of the package.

On the inside, the Smart Play Studio touchscreen infotainment system is the same 1 seen on all other Maruti small cars. It supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The steering has option for music and call controls. The car gets manual HVAC system.

There’s a dedicated 12v 120w charging socket along with USB and AUX ports. The rear gets a parcel shelf inside but the trunk loading lip is quite high. Maruti Suzuki offers 2 customisation packages – Impacto and Glinto to spice up the hatchback further.
