Maruti Suzuki unveiled the A-Star Cabriolet at the 2012 Auto Expo. This is a one-off version of the A-Star, with the roof chopped off and 2 door removed. There are no chances of this going into production anytime in the future but Maruti Suzuki has always generated eye candy at Auto Expos and the A-Star Cabriolet was done to do the same. The car looks good and should be offered as a limited edition. A price of around Rs. 6 lakhs for this machine could easily see the wind in your hair lovers amongst us purchase one for the weekends. Other than the slight modifications to the exteriors and interiors, the A-Star Cabriolet is largely unchanged from the regular hatchback version.
The Maruti Suzuki A-Star Cabriolet is powered by the same 998cc, K-Series engine which produces 67 BHP of peak power at 6200 RPM and 90 Nm of peak torque at 3500 RPM. Seating capacity is 2 adults at the front and 2 children at the back, while the car is mated to a 4-speed automatic gearbox. The design does not seem very practical though and one needs a indoor garage to ensure no one messes with the vehicle, which does not have a soft or hard top as a roof. Do you think this car should be offered in India? If yes, would you buy one for Rs. 6 lakhs?
