Maruti Suzuki is going to recall 63,493 mild-hybrid cars in India.
Maruti Suzuki sells SHVS variants of multiple cars like the Baleno, Ciaz, Ertiga and XL6 and we it has now been learnt that the automaker is going to issue a recall for petrol SHVS variants of the Ciaz, Ertiga and XL6, manufactured between 1st January 2019 to 21st November 2019.
The company will recall 63,493 units of these vehicles for a manufacturing defect with the Motor Generator Unit (MGU). This component is manufactured by an overseas supplier. The automaker has asked dealers to put all existing stock on hold, while factory dispatches of these variants have also been halted.
Owners of the affected vehicles could be given loaner cars while their cars are being fixed. Dealers will contact owners of the affected vehicles for an inspection. If the vehicle is fine, no repairs will be carried out but if the part requires a replacement, it will be done free of cost.
