The engine will come mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 5-speed AGS (Auto Gear Shift) or AMT (Automated Manual Transmission Unit).
Maruti is all set to shake up the small cars segment which currently has the Renault Kwid as a favourite. The S-Presso was first showcased as the Future S Concept at the 2018 Auto Expo. It is going to come in four variants – Standard, LXi, VXi and VXi+ which will further be accentuated to 9 trims depending upon the transmission choice and equipment level that one decides to go for.
Under the hood, the S-Presso is much likely to get the same 1.0-litre engine we find in the Alto K10. It is going to be a BS6-compliant 3-cylinder petrol engine producing 67 PS at 5500 RPM and 90 Nm of peak torque. The engine will come mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 5-speed AGS (Auto Gear Shift) or AMT (Automated Manual Transmission Unit).
Talking about dimensions, the S-Presso will have a cut-short boxy stance. It will measure 3655 mm in length, 1520 mm in width. The height will be 1549 mm or 1564 mm depending upon whether you choose the 13-inch or 14-inch wheelset.
Maruti’s new entry is based on the Heartect platform which underpins the Swift, Wagon R, Baleno, Ignis, Dzire and Ertiga.
The car is most likely to come with safety features such as a driver-side airbag, anti-lock braking system, electronic brake distribution, reverse parking sensors, speed alert and seatbelt reminder. Maruti may provide the front passenger airbag on the higher trims. We may also see a 7-inch SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment setup with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
