Maruti is about to launch the S-Cross petrol soon.

S-Cross to be available in Delta, Zeta and Alpha trims

The Maruti S-Cross was introduced in India in 2015. Back then it came with 1.6-litre diesel and 1.3-litre diesel engines. Maruti eventually discontinued the 1.6-litre diesel.

Due to high taxes and pricing, the S-Cross 1.6 fetched very few buyers. In 2017, Maruti introduced the S-Cross facelift. It came with a single 1.3-litre diesel engine option with manual transmission.

Now that Maruti Suzuki has discontinued all diesels and plan a petrol-only lineup, the S-Cross will come with a petrol engine for the first time.

They showcased the new S-Cross petrol at the Auto Expo 2020. Visually, the car will get no changes at all on the exterior and interior. Now new features will be added apart from the updated SmartPlay Studio infotainment system.

The only biggest change will be under the hood. It will get a new K15 Smart Hybrid Petrol Engine. The 1.5-litre mild hybrid engine produces 105 PS of power at 6000 RPM and 138 Nm of torque at 4400 RPM.

This engine will come with both 5-speed manual transmission and 4-speed torque converter automatic transmission option.

The S-Cross petrol has been listed as arriving soon on the official website. Dealers have started accepting bookings. The booking amount for the car is Rs. 11,000/-.

The car will be available now with only 3 variants. Delta, Zeta and Alpha. The entry-level Sigma trim has been ruled out with the S-Cross petrol.

The 2020 S-Cross is likely to come with a starting price of Rs. 9.90 lakhs (ex-showroom).
