Maruti S-Cross petrol about to launch soon after lockdown gets over.
Maruti Suzuki, as we all know, started phasing out its diesel engines starting 2019 as they had no plans to introduce BS6 diesel after April. The S-Cross was a diesel-only car and after its discontinuation, the petrol version is coming soon.
The carmaker showcased the new S-Cross petrol at the Auto Expo 2020. They have now teased the car officially on their website, which means it is about to launch very soon.
The Maruti S-Cross will get a BS6 compliant K15 Smart Hybrid Petrol Engine. It is a 1.5-litre mild hybrid engine producing 105 PS of power at 6000 RPM and 138 Nm of torque at 4400 RPM.
This engine will be offered with both 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic transmission options. It is the same engine running in the Maruti Ciaz.
The outgoing model came with a 1.3-litre diesel mill with 90 PS and 200 Nm torque, mated to a 5-speed manual.
Don’t expect major changes in the petrol model. The equipment list and cosmetics will remain unchanged. However, we will see the updated SmartPlay Studio infotainment system on offer.
