Maruti has silently given the S-Cross a refresh along with the 2018 Maruti Ciaz.
The Maruti S-Cross facelift was launched in India in 2017 and almost a year later, the company has decided to give the crossover a midlife refresh. While mechanically there are no changes, it does get a slew of new safety features and added equipment for creature comfort.
The Maruti S-Cross comes in four variants, Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha, in ascending order. Reverse parking sensors, speed alarm and seatbelt reminder for the front passengers have now been made standard across all these variants. The speed alarm beeps every 60 seconds above 80km/hr and starts beeping constantly above 120 km/hr. These are also the only updates that the Sigma variant gets.
The Maruti S-Cross Delta variant is the one with the most number of changes here. It borrows features from the upper variants and now comes with automatic climate control and push-button start. Other new features include a smart key, rear windscreen wiper, cruise control and auto-folding ORVMs with integrated turn indicators.
The Maruti S-Cross will also be getting the bigger multi-information display (MID) in the instrument cluster which will be the same as the one found on the 2018 Maruti Ciaz petrol variant. The top-end, Zeta and Alpha variants, in addition, get a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a rear armrest. Illumination duties too are better with front fog lamps.
Reports also suggest that Maruti might put the new 1.5-litre SHVS petrol engine in the S-Cross in the coming months. This is the same engine found on the 2018 Maruti Ciaz. It is good to see the company giving its products a refresh which also happens to be just in time before the festive season begins.
