The Maruti S-Cross facelift will soon be launching internationally, as the new model has already been showcased in Hungary by Suzuki. The online debut of the car is expected to happen in some days. However, the images clicked at the unveil reveal quite a lot of details about the crossover.
The Maruti Suzuki S-Cross was launched in the Indian market in August last year. Since then the SUV has been unable to garner much sales success. Much of this was attributed to the styling of the car, which in today’s day and age seemed a bit tame compared to its competition. Also, even though the S-Cross was marketed as a crossover, the car looked more hatchback than an SUV which seems to be the main reason for its downfall.
Suzuki however, has been fairly quick to react, and are already working on a facelifted version of the S-Cross, which was recently showcased at an event in Hungary. The car, which was spied earlier on an Hungarian production line sports an all new front end. The changes include an all new chrome grille, with big vertical slats, which give the car a much needed aggressive face. Add to this the sharp projector headlights and LED DRLs, the S-Cross now looks much more SUV than before. The car also gets slightly revised cladding to give it a rugged look, but the rear remains more or less the same as before.
The interiors too look similar to the currently sold model. Changes include a new infotainment system. The seat fabrics reportedly, are new as well. As for the mechanical specs, the Europe line up gets 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engines which are offered in 5-speed manual and CVT transmissions for the petrol, and a 6-speed manual for the diesel. The Maruti S-Cross has also been rumoured to get the 1.4 litre BoosterJet unit, which will output 140 HP of power when it is launched in India.
The car will now be showcased at the Paris Motor Show, and the India-spec version will make it to our shores next year. We can also expect some more changes to be made to the Maruti S-Cross facelift by the time it makes it to our market.
