Maruti showcased the Jimny at the 2023 Auto Expo in its range topping avatar, the SUV has now been spied in its base variant. The Jimny will be available in two variants at the time of launch – Zeta and Alpha.
This specific entry-level variant in the pictures is expected to be the Zeta variant of the Jimny. If you look at the front profile, it comes with basic halogen reflector type headlamps, while the Alpha trim will get LED headlamps with washer. The base trim also misses out on fog lamps.
While this prototype shows body coloured door handles, Maruti’s brochure reveals that the production version won’t get body coloured handles. The biggest visual difference is the steel wheels in the base variant.
In terms of features, the Zeta trim will miss out on push start/stop, cruise control and leather wrapped steering wheel. It will come with manual AC and a smaller 7-inch touchscreen system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It will also miss out on the Arkamys sound system.
It will be powered by the same K15B 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 105 PS and 134 Nm of torque. It will come with 5-speed manual and 4-speed auto transmission options. There will be AllGrip Pro 4WD system on offer with the base variant as well.
