Maruti is developing a new 5-door Jimny for the Indian market.
Maruti Suzuki showcased the much anticipated Jimny at the Auto Expo 2020. The carmaker was gathering public response to see whether it’ll have some good amount of takers if they introduce the compact SUV in India.
It is now being confirmed that Maruti is developing a larger and more practical 5-door Jimny for the Indian market. It will be manufactured at the company’s Gujarat plant.
Maruti will commence production for the 3-door version in June this year but it won’t be launched in the domestic market, it will be manufactured only for exports.
The Maruti Jimny 5-door will commence production 6 months later and will be go on sale in both domestic and export markets. The Maruti Jimny will be retailed via the premium Nexa dealership network.
In terms of equipment, the Jimny will be offered in 4×4 with low-range transfer case. It’ll get a 1.5-litre K12B petrol engine developing 105 BHP. Expected to come in early 2021 with a starting price of under Rs. 10 lakhs (ex-showroom).
