Maruti Suzuki India Limited has issued a voluntary recall for 1.34 lakh units of the Wagon R and Baleno hatchbacks over a possible fuel pump issue.
The affected models of the Wagon R are based on the 1.0-litre variant and were manufactured between 15th November 2018 and 15th October 2019. A total of 56,663 units of the car will be covered.
The Baleno models that are affected are only the petrol versions that were manufactured between 8th January 2019 and 4th November, the same year.
In all, the recall will cover 1,34,885 vehicles of the two models, including 78,222 units of the Baleno hatchback.
Maruti says it has issued the recall after finding a possible issue with the fuel pump, which will be replaced free of cost on the affected cars.
Owners of the suspected vehicles under the recall will be contacted by Maruti Suzuki’s authorised dealers.
Customers can also visit the “Imp Customer Info” section on Maruti Suzuki’s websites and fill in their vehicles chassis number (MA3 or MBH, followed by 14 digit alpha-numeric number) to check if their vehicle needs any attention.
One can find the vehicle chassis number on cars as it will be embossed on the vehicle ID plate and is also mentioned in the vehicle invoice and registration documents.
One might recall that Maruti Suzuki had announced a recall of over 40,000 units of Wagon R in August last year to inspect a possible issue of the fuel hose fouling with the metal clamp.
The affected models back then were the same 1.0-litre petrol engine Wagon R hatchbacks. The Wagon R’s 1.2-litre petrol engine was not part of the recall.
The country’s biggest carmaker not the only automobile manufacturer to issue recalls as even Mercedes had recently recalled 103 units over a faulty seat buckle housing issue.
If your car is part of the recall, get it fixed as soon as possible for a hassle-free and safe driving experience from hereon.
