Maruti Ignis Sport & Ertiga Sport Unveiled At GIIAS 2018

Both the cars get only cosmetic updates over their standard models.

The Suzuki Ignis Sport comes in different colour schemes

Suzuki has unveiled its new Ignis Sport and Ertiga Sport models at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2018. While the Ignis Sport looks very similar to the standard model sold in India, the Ertiga Sport looks like a whole different breed.

The Suzuki Ignis Sport gets a black paint scheme with a rear spoiler and red-coloured side skirts and skid plates. The rear bumper too is body coloured but gets silver accents. The paint job does give the Ignis Sport a stylish look. Mechanically, there are no changes and the car comes with a 1.2-litre K-Series petrol engine mated to either a 5-speed manual transmission or AMT.

The Suzuki Ertiga Sport comes with more updates and looks like a mean mini-van. The aggressively styled front bumper, low ground clearance and smoked headlamps clearly look like someone not to be messed with. The rear too gets an attractive taillight cluster with vertically placed wing lights. It also gets bigger diamond-cut alloys, side skirts, rear spoiler and rear skid plate. The company has gone ahead and even given the Ertiga Sport a front diffuser, talk about attention to detail. The Ertiga Sport is based on the second-generation Ertiga that is already on sale in Indonesia and will go on sale in India in the upcoming festive season.

The Suzuki Ertiga Sport too is powered by the 1.5-litre petrol engine found in the standard variant. This one also gets a 5-speed manual or an automated manual transmission option. An update to the engine is sorely missed as that would have made the Ertiga Sport a truly desirable MPV.

There’s no news about the launch of these two products as they are concept versions. Suzuki will be first gauging the response that these models garner. It might even go ahead and take bits from the two to be used in the standard variant or put it in a new variant altogether. We hope that they do bring them to India just like they did with the Baleno RS.
