Maruti Fronx CNG is powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine with S-CNG tech
Maruti Fronx CNG launched with a price tag of Rs. 8.41 lakhs for the Sigma variant and Rs. 9.27 lakhs for the Delta variant (all prices, ex-showroom). It can also be bought at an all-inclusive monthly subscription fee starting from Rs. 23,248/-.
These are the only two variants on offer, it misses out on Zeta and the range topping Alpha trims as they come with a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine and the CNG is offered with the 1.2-litre K-Series naturally aspirated petrol.
This 1.2-litre engine produces a power output of 77.5 PS at 6000 RPM and 98.5 Nm torque at 4300 RPM in CNG mode. In petrol mode it offers 89.73 PS at 6000 RPM and 113 Nm torque at 4400 RPM. The Fronx CNG returns a claimed fuel efficiency of 28.5 km/kg.
Maruti Suzuki’s portfolio now consists of 15 cars offering CNG powertrain option. India’s largest carmaker has sold more than 14 lakh CNG powered vehicles across the country.
If you compare the price of CNG powered Fronx with the regular petrol variants of Sigma and Delta, the S-CNG model is around Rs. 1 lakh more expensive. If you have a high running every month then it will be wise to choose the CNG variants, otherwise stick to the regular 1.2-litre petrol engine. And if you are a petrolhead, then go for the 1.0-litre BoosterJet turbo petrol engine producing 100 BHP and 147 Nm torque.
