Maruti Fronx bookings open, price announcement in March
Maruti Suzuki revealed the Fronx at the 2023 Auto Expo and started accepting bookings for the car. The automaker will announce the pricing of this new crossover in March and start the deliveries at the same time.
The Fronx is a Baleno based crossover. We believe it is the same treatment that Honda gave to Jazz with WR-V. A more rugged version of the Baleno that has completely new styling elements to differentiate the two products.
Maruti Suzuki is filling the gap between Baleno and Grand Vitara with this crossover that neatly replaces the Maruti S-Cross.
In terms of styling, the front profile gets a completely new nose which is inspired by the Grand Vitara. The side profile gets new set of 16-inch alloys, larger than Baleno’s 15-inchers. It also comes with a higher ground clearance and body cladding for a rugged look. You might notice some resemblance to the Kiger from this angle.
The rear profile gets a sloping roof with an SUV Coupe appearance. It comes with a neat set of LED tail lamps and a sleek bar of light that connects the two clusters. Overall it looks youthful and unique.
The interior looks exactly the same as the Baleno but gets a new dark red with black theme. Some of the features include Head Up Display with turn-by-turn navigation, 360 view camera, wireless charger, 9-inch HD Smart Play Pro+ infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, etc.
Safety tech includes 6 airbags, 3-point ELR seatbelts, ESP with Hill Hold Assist & roll over mitigation, ABS with EBD & brake assist (BA), ISOFIX child seat anchorages, etc.
What’s interesting is the new BoosterJet engine options. It is a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine that produces 100 PS and 147.6 Nm of torque. It is available with 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission option.
The 1.2-litre K-Series engine is also offered with the Fronx. It produces 99 PS and 113 Nm of torque. Mated to 5-speed MT and AMT gearbox options.
