Maruti Suzuki has launched limited edition variants of the Ertiga MPV in the country to mark the milestone of achieving 1.50 lakh sales in the market. The limited edition variants will be available in petrol, diesel as well as CNG models. Changes to the Ertiga include new chrome grille and door handles, new body graphics and decals and a rear spoiler. The limited edition model is available in a new Pearl Blaze blue paint job along with white and silver shades.
The premium touch extends inside the cabin as well with wooden trim inserts around the instrument cluster and in the doors as well along with limited edition floor mats. In terms of features, the limited edition variant gets rear parking sensors and a new audio system, but misses out on automatic climate control. Mechanically, there are no changes under the hood and the Ertiga continues with the same 1.4-litre K-Series petrol motor producing 95 PS of power and 130 Nm of torque and the 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine producing 90 PS and 200 Nm of torque.
While the sale of 1.50 lakh units is indeed commendable, we truly see the Ertiga limited edition variant as a strategic move by Maruti to counter the Honda Mobilio even before its arrival on 23rd July. The Ertiga will be hugely affected by the success of the Mobilio and the company is just trying to prevent the damage even before it happens. The limited edition variant is priced at a premium of around Rs. 20,000/- over the standard models.
