Maruti Suzuki launched the all-new Ertiga in the Indian market last year. The new Ertiga, which is based on the Heartect platform, has quickly gained popularity in the Indian market. Maruti has asked its dealerships to stop taking bookings for the LDi, the base diesel variant of the all-new Ertiga that is priced at Rs. 8.85 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The carmaker has started the process of replacing the Fiat-sourced 1.3-litre diesel engine with the new 1.5-litre diesel engine that’s developed in-house to meet the BS6 norms. Maruti has chosen to axe the LDi and focus on producing more of the higher variants to meet the demands and reduce the waiting period.

With the LDi being discontinued, the Ertiga VDi, priced at Rs. 9.56 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi), is now the entry-level diesel variant. The all-new 1.5-litre engine will also meet BS6 norms and it churns out a maximum power of 94 BHP and a peak torque of 225 Nm.
