Maruti Ertiga has been spied on test with a BS6 diesel engine, launch imminent.
After we saw the recent spy pictures of the S-Cross 1.6 diesel, the Ertiga has been spied on test having a BS6 compliant diesel engine. The test mule is wearing a DDiS badge on the front fender and carries a BS6 document on the rear windshield.
It is not clear if the Ertiga test mule is running on the updated 1.5-litre diesel engine or the Fiat sourced 1.6-litre Multijet diesel engine. If it is the latter, it will be shared with the S-Cross. The Fiat sourced 1.6-litre engine produces 120 PS and 320 Nm and is mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
We believe Maruti Suzuki will reveal the details of their BS6 lineup at the Auto Expo 2020. Currently the Maruti Ertiga is available in the 1.5-litre diesel, 1.5-litre petrol and CNG engine options.
The premium brother of the Maruti Ertiga, the XL6 is currently only available in a petrol engine option. The NEXA cousin of the Ertiga is likely to get the updated BS diesel engine option that will make its debut next year.
