The 6-seater version of the Ertiga will sit at the very top of the Eriga lineup and will be sold exclusively through premium Nexa dealerships.
The new-generation Maruti Ertiga was launched in our market on 21st November and has received a staggering response since then. Maruti has made the latest-generation Ertiga more premium while increasing its price accordingly. Now, in a bid to widen the appeal of the Ertiga, Maruti is planning to launch a premium 6-seater version of the MPV.
Although no official date has been announced, we can expect the launch of the 6-seater Ertiga to take place after the launch of the Maruti Baleno facelift, probably in the first half of 2019. It is very unlikely that the Ertiga will see any dimensional changes but increased ride height is expected. Crucially, the 6-seater Ertiga will feature a 2+2+2 seating layout with captain seats in the middle row.
This will be a range-topping version in the Ertiga line-up. Some visual changes are likely in an attempt to make this version stand out from the standard Ertiga 7-seater. We expect the car to have a beefier front-end with pronounced bumpers and fog-lamp housings.
More chrome and detailing will be added. The grille may be changed with something similar seen on the S-Cross. The new and possibly bigger alloy-wheel design is likely and there will be more chrome on the side. The rear too maybe adorned with similarly upmarket embellishments to justify the higher price tag.
The interior may get new all-black upholstery like the S-Cross and more equipment. Electric seat adjust for the driver and a bigger touch-screen could be added. As mentioned earlier, this version of the Ertiga will feature captain seats in the second row. They will get a variety of adjustments and Maruti may offer sun-blinds making it a more premium experience.
The 6-seater version of the Ertiga is likely to come only with the 1.5-litre SHVS petrol motor mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. While the 7-seat Ertiga is retailed across more than 2,200 Arena showrooms present across India, the 6-seater version is restricted to Nexa outlets and will rival the Mahindra Marazzo.
